"The Vampire King" by Heather Killough-Walden

So, I've been very fortunate to have been chosen to do a review of this book by the author herself, Heather Killough-Walden.  I've read every one of her books and have come to expect a certain flavor from her work.  Yes I said flavor.  I call my apple shampoo a yummy smelling flavor, but that's beside the point, I've had my first taste of "The Kings" series, and now my taste buds are itching for more.

"The Vampire King" is book one in her new series "The Kings".  An amazing spin-off from her best selling Big Bad Wolf series, HKW left nothing out. Now while its not necessarily required that you read the BBW series before starting this spin-off series, lets face it, it wouldn't hurt.  Besides, your gonna want more of HKW once you start, might as well just go for it.

In "The Vampire King" old characters return, new enemies surface and as I have come to expect in true HKW fashion, we have a sexy supernatural dude and a gorgeous damsel in distress.  I love the damsel in distress, and with Heather's words you can't help but feel like you should be part of that world, its a wonderful break from reality and a great gift from the author, that little daydream.

Evie is a normal girl.  Roman is the Vampire King.  Evie has drawn the attention of not 1, but 2 very powerful vampires.  One of them being Roman, the other being Charles, a disgruntled vampire hell bent on the ultimate revenge for the murder of a very dear and close friend.  In a ~ can't put it down cause I'm dying to see what happens next ~ game of cat and mouse, Roman must save Evie from the wrath of Charles or risk losing the only thing he's lived 3000 years to claim....

Book 1 in "The Kings" is an addicting tale, full of action and adventure, lust, magic and more.  Like I said, I've tasted this flavor, now give me the rest of the kool-aid;)

I cannot wait for the next chapter in "The Kings" series

Toil and Trouble by H.P.Mallory

"Toil and Trouble" picks up immediately where "Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble" left off. After discovering her gift is far more powerful than anyone realized, Jolie Wilkins is in even greater danger now that the entire underworld knows about her. There's a great war coming and everyone wants the witch who reanimates the dead on their side. With her heart torn between the sexy warlock, Rand, and the ever present vampire Sinjin, Jolie must put her feelings behind her and focus on her training if she can ever hope to mend her heart and return to the life she left behind. This installment is fabulous and doesn't miss a moment of adventure, with constant suspense and detailed descriptions of the beauty that surrounds England and Scotland, you feel like you've seen it with your own eyes. An addicting tale, I highly anticipate the next chapter in the life and turmoil that is Jolie Wilkins.

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P.Mallory

After browsing several online libraries and the Barnes and Noble website, I just couldn't find a series that screamed at me that I hadn't already devoured with my eyes. Upon seeing such frustration, my friend told me about a series that commanded my attention. Now, I had passed by this series by H.P. Mallory a few times. What turned me off was the cartoon cover. It didn't "scream" at me, so I passed by it without looking back. My friend on the other hand, she was adamant about it so I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet, so to speak. "The Jolie Wilkins" series surprised the heck out of me when I was immediately sucked into a remarkable world of witches, vampires, and of course werewolves. Not your run of the mill fantasy novel, this story has mystery, suspense, excitement and of course lust. An average girl discovers she has the gift of magic when a handsome stranger named Rand comes into her magic shop for a reading. Upon this discovery of herself, Jolie is thrown into a whole new world of amazement and terror when a rival witch wishes to lay claim to Jolie and control her gift. With the help of the her human best friend Christie and the handsome Rand, Jolie must learn how to control her gift and decide which is more important, the fate of the supernatural race, or the human life she has left behind. I highly recommend this series to anyone who has a love of the paranormal.
