Demonfire by Kate Douglas

I discovered the first 2 chapters of this book hiding at the back of another novel I had bought for my nook. After finishing those 2 chapters, I was immediately hooked on what would be a fabulous tale of love, sorrow, bravery and an eternal loyalty that only a few people ever find. I bought the entire novel right away. The book starts off with Dax lying naked in a shed and Eddy saving him from a possessed lawn gnome. Completely miffed, Eddy listens to the tales told by Dax of his world, the danger that lurks all around, and the mission he was sent to do, and only a week in which to do it before being sent back into the Abyss. With Eddy and her strangely bred foster dog Bumper, Dax begins his mission to rid Eddy's small town of demon kind before the balance of light and dark is thrown off and turns into Hell on Earth. Little does he know, the demons are growing smarter, they have begun working together. Dax has only a week to complete his mission, if he fails, humanity is lost, and that can't happen. Not after meeting Eddy Marks. Suddenly Dax has a whole new reason for saving the world.

This is an engorging tale of what true love is and the loyalty that can be found in the oddest of places
